Weight loss VS Fat Loss

Let me ask you a question…

… What is more important to you?

A) Losing weight and seeing your weight drop on the scales?

OR….

B) Looking better in the mirror and feeling better in your clothes?

…………………………………………………………………………………………..

What if I tell you to do option B – you don’t need to lose any weight at all?

In fact you’ll probably GAIN WEIGHT!

We say, theoretically, to lose a dress size you need to burn around 20-25CM’s in total off your body.

To do that, you don’t need to focus on losing any weight as such.

You need to focus on BURNING FAT!

FAT doesn’t really weigh anything.

AND, for every 1/2lb of FAT you burn, (which is a lot of fat), there’s a good chance you’ll replace it with 1/2lb of LEAN TISSUE which is a tiny amount but it weighs a lot more than FAT.

What the scales say doesn’t make any difference what so ever to your progress!

Let’s look at both options a little further….

Option A – The goal at Slimming World and Weight Watchers, for example, is to make you lose weight.

Their program is designed to make you LOSE WEIGHT!

They have an easy to follow plan which allows you to eat JUNK FOOD as long as at the end of the week you lose 1 or 2lb.

As long as at the end of the week – you were in a CALORIE DEFICIT, you’ll lose weight!

Lose 3KG’s of weight – AMAZING, right?

But what about your health?

As long as you lose weight it doesn’t matter about the rest of your health right?

But what if that 3KG is muscle, water & lean tissues – your body fat % INCREASES, your inches stay the same and you GAIN on your WAIST??

Most commercial diet programs would praise you.

You lost weight.

Amazing.

Great work.

Keep doing what you’re doing. You lost weight but gained inches – good job maan?

The numbers on the scales are dropping.

That’s all that matters, right?

Here’s your half stone blue Peter award!!!

You’ve lost 5 pound of MUSCLE and 3 pound of WATER!!!

Great work they’ll say.

No FAT LOST what so ever, but still, great work!

THIS IS UTTER BULLSHIT!! Don’t do it to yourself!

Here, at Simon Coles Fitness Services, the system and coaching we provide is aimed at achieving Option B.

We measure your BODYFAT and INCHES as well as WEIGHT.

COMPARISON EXAMPLE:

Option B – Burnt 20CM’s in 2 weeks, a clothes size, burnt 2KG of unwanted stored BODYFAT but replaced it with 2KG of LEAN MASS.

On the scales, you’re the same.

At Slimming World that’d be poor. No weight loss? We can’t have that.

But in REALITY – You’ve lost 2KG of unwanted FAT and replaced it with LEAN TISSUES so on the scales it looks like you’ve made no progress.

But we test your body fat and use the tape measure – which doesn’t lie.

Weight can fluctuate.

No weight loss on the scales. But behind the scenes you lost 2KG of FAT and replaced it with 2KG of Lean Muscle – so on the scales it looks like you haven’t lost anything but in reality you drastically burnt body fat and reduced your waist size – but the scales alone scales don’t measure that.

That is what good progress should really look like.

Keep doing what you’re doing. You’ll lose 3 dress sizes in no time and be also feeling fit, healthy, toned, lean and sexy!

If you didn’t progress —- we’re on top of it. We’re measuring your progress. IF results are a little slow. We’ll make a couple tweaks and move forward.

Sometimes you’ll hit a plateau. It happens to the best of us. But we’re measuring it.

We know you’ve hit the wall because we’re analysing you every step of the way.

We can analyse quickly and know exactly how to kick start those results again!

When results slow or stop, we’ll go back to the drawing board and see where you’re going wrong, adjust and keep making forward steps.

Don’t strive for weight loss people.

Don’t use your weight to judge your progress.

If you’re going to only use one method of measuring, use the mirror.

Commercial diets just create a program that’s easy to follow and allows you to eat nutritionally empty food and still lose weight….

But we’ve just ironed out – the goal shouldn’t be weight loss?

The goal should be FAT LOSS and OPTIMAL HEALTH!

DO NOT follow a plan that is focused on weight loss only and neglects all other aspects of your HEALTH!

You get one body.

One heart.

One set of lungs.

One brain.

You must look after your immunity, central nervous system, blood pressure, pH level, digestive tract – EVERYTHING!
